Rope Bowls Machine Embroidery August 2026

What you'll need:
Background Fabric, 1 fat quarter per bowl prepped BEFORE CLASS with Terial Magic & Fusible Woven (Such as SF-101 Shape Flex). This additional stabilization helps your design to stay flat and even.
~ Sewing AND embroidery machine. This project requires some regular piecing steps, so an embroidery-only machine will not suffice.
~ Extension table for sewing machine. If it has a ruler, even better!
~ Pack of new needles (nothing smaller than an 80, Patty was using size 100) -- you'll need at least one per bowl
~ Kimberbell Holiday Rope Bowls machine embroidery design
~ Printed instructions -- if you would like for Patty Sue to print a set for you to purchase, let us know at least 72 hours (3 days) before class
~ Skein of 1/4" cotton rope
~ Sewing thread to match rope, and bobbins filled with same thread for bowl assembly
~ Embroidery thread
~ Bobbins filled with bobbin weight (60wt) thread for embroidery
~ Tear Away stabilizer
~ Woven Water Soluble stabilizer (NOT film style)
~ "Shape Foam" interfacing (stiff stuff, like Peltex) -- two 9" squares per bowl
~ Paper tape for embroidery
~ Water soluble or air erase marking pens -- NOT Frixion pens, as these markings will be visible
~ Fabric for bowl base -- Fat Quarter is perfect size, solid color is best
~ 1.5" fabric strips per bowl for creating optional pattern in bowl -- 1 to 3 per bowl
~ Quilting clips
~ Pinking shears -- optional, but helpful
~ Fabric shears
~ Bent tip embroidery scissors
~ Thread snips
~ Pressing cloth
~ Point 2 Point Tuner for pushing out circle
